Therapeutic Indications:
1. Prostate Cancer Treatment:
Metastatic prostate cancer:
Has demonstrated comparable survival benefits to surgical castrations.
Locally advanced prostate cancer (alternative to surgical castration):
Has demonstrated comparable survival benefits to anti-androgen therapy.
Adjuvant treatment to radiotherapy:
For patients with high-risk localised or locally advanced prostate cancer, Zoladex has demonstrated improved disease-free survival and overall survival.
Neo-adjuvant treatment prior to radiotherapy:
In high-risk localised or locally advanced prostate cancer, Zoladex has demonstrated improved disease-free survival.
Adjuvant treatment to radical prostatectomy:
For patients with locally advanced prostate cancer at high risk of disease progression, Zoladex has demonstrated improved disease-free survival.
2. Advanced Breast Cancer:
For pre and perimenopausal women suitable for hormonal manipulation.
3. Early Breast Cancer (Zoladex 3.6 mg):
An alternative to chemotherapy in the standard of care for pre/perimenopausal women with oestrogen receptor (ER) positive early breast cancer.
4. Endometriosis:
Zoladex alleviates symptoms, including pain, and reduces the size and number of endometrial lesions.
5. Endometrial Thinning:
This is for thinning the uterine endometrium prior to endometrial ablation or resection.
6. Uterine Fibroids:
In conjunction with iron therapy, Zoladex helps in the haematological improvement of anaemic patients with fibroids prior to surgery.
7. Assisted Reproduction:
Used for pituitary downregulation in preparation for superovulation.
