More Information
Disposable Vaginal Specula
Single-use vaginal specula used by clinicians for cervical screening and pelvic exams in GP surgeries and sexual health clinics.
Reusable Metal Specula
Reusable metal specula are stainless steel instruments used for gynaecological examinations and procedures. These instruments require decontamination and sterilisation between uses to maintain infection control standards.
A vaginal speculum is used by clinicians to visualise the cervix during gynaecological examinations, including cervical screening, smear sample collection, coil fitting and pelvic assessment. The Cusco bivalve speculum is the standard type in UK primary care and sexual health clinics, opening on a hinged mechanism with a locking screw to hold the blades once positioned. Sims specula, which are single-ended and weighted, are used where a second clinician is assisting or where a different angle of access is needed. Specula are available in disposable single-use plastic, supplied sterile and individually wrapped for infection control, and in reusable stainless steel, which is autoclavable between patients. Size selection across small, medium and large variants supports patient comfort and clinical access during examination, including for sensitive patients and paediatric cases. All specula in the WMS range are latex-free medical devices. WMS stocks disposable and reusable vaginal specula from PELIspec, Comfispec and Easyspec, with bulk pack options and fast UK dispatch for primary care and gynaecology clinics.
