Available in a 24 plate or 38 plate series, the Ishihara Tests for Colour Blindness are an effective method of screening for the presence of colour deficiencies.

Patients must identify numbers or patterns formed in a matrix of small coloured dots varying in colour and intensity (pseudo-isochromatic plates).

The 24 plate series of Ishihara plates is ideal for rapid screening, and the 38 plate series offers scope for more detailed investigation and isolation of defects.
