AliveCor KardiaMobile ECG Monitor
The AliveCor KardiaMobile ECG 1 Lead is an FDA-cleared, CE-marked, clinically validated single-lead ECG device used across primary care, community clinical settings, and patient self-monitoring programmes. It records a medical-grade Lead I ECG in 30 seconds, without gels, probes, or wires. It is referenced in National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidance and is used across NHS primary care for atrial fibrillation (AFib) screening.
ECG recordings are stored in the Kardia app, which classifies each recording and displays the ECG trace, heart rate, and result category. Recordings can be saved, printed, or emailed as a PDF directly from the app, supporting clinical documentation and onward referral. The app is available on iOS and Android; the Kardia Basic App is free, with an optional KardiaCare premium subscription available.
KardiaMobile records and classifies ECG results into one of the following categories:
- Atrial Fibrillation (AFib): an irregular, often rapid heart rhythm originating in the atria, associated with increased stroke risk
- Normal: heart rate 50 to 100 BPM with no detected rhythm abnormality
- Bradycardia: resting heart rate below 40 to 50 BPM
- Tachycardia: resting heart rate above 100 to 140 BPM
- Unclassified: heart rate below 40 or above 140 BPM, outside the normal classification range
- Unreadable: excessive electrical or sound interference during recording
The device is supplied with a PhoneClip attachment plate, CR2016 coin cell battery (approximately 12 months operating life at 2 to 3 recordings per day), getting started guide, and two-year warranty. UK-based after-sales support is included. Smartphone not included.
Product Features
- 30-second Lead I ECG: records a single-lead medical-grade ECG in 30 seconds, supporting rapid rhythm assessment in clinical and community settings.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the KardiaMobile?
KardiaMobile is an FDA-cleared, CE-marked personal ECG device made by AliveCor. It records a medical-grade single-lead ECG in 30 seconds using a smartphone app. It is used in primary care and by patients for opportunistic AFib screening and arrhythmia monitoring.
What does KardiaMobile detect?
KardiaMobile detects and classifies atrial fibrillation (AFib), bradycardia, tachycardia, and normal sinus rhythm. It also returns an Unclassified result for heart rates outside the standard range, and an Unreadable result if recording interference is detected. It does not detect myocardial infarction.
What is atrial fibrillation, bradycardia, and tachycardia?
Atrial fibrillation (AFib) is an irregular and often rapid heart rhythm originating in the atria, associated with increased stroke risk. Bradycardia is a resting heart rate below 40 to 50 BPM. Tachycardia is a resting heart rate above 100 to 140 BPM. KardiaMobile classifies each ECG recording into one of these categories automatically.
How do I use KardiaMobile?
Open the Kardia app on your smartphone or tablet. Tap Record ECG. Rest your fingers on the two electrodes on the top of the device. Hold steady for 30 seconds. The app will display the ECG trace, heart rate, and classification result at the end of the recording.
Who should not use KardiaMobile?
KardiaMobile is not recommended for use by patients with cardiac pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), or other implanted electronic cardiac devices. Clinicians should assess suitability before recommending the device to these patient groups.
Does KardiaMobile require a subscription?
No subscription is required for basic use. The free Kardia Basic App allows unlimited ECG recordings with local device storage, PDF export, and email sharing. An optional KardiaCare premium subscription is available for additional features including in-depth ECG reports. A free 30-day KardiaCare trial is included with purchase; no charge applies if cancelled before the trial ends.
What is the difference between KardiaMobile 1-lead and KardiaMobile 6L?
KardiaMobile 1-lead:
- Records a single Lead I ECG, equivalent to Lead I of a standard 12-lead ECG
- Two finger electrodes on the top of the device
- Detects AFib, bradycardia, tachycardia, and normal sinus rhythm
KardiaMobile 6L:
- Records six leads simultaneously: Lead I, II, III, aVR, aVL, and aVF
- Requires a third electrode placed on the bare skin of the left knee or ankle
- Provides a broader view of cardiac electrical activity
- Increased ability to identify atrial flutter, heart block, and PVCs
Both models:
- Use the same Kardia app
- Deliver results in 30 seconds
- Require no gels or wires
