How do I use Hibiwash?

Usage protocol varies by clinical application.

Pre-operative surgical hand disinfection: 

Wet hands and forearms. Apply 5ml and wash for 1 minute, cleaning fingernails with a nail brush or scraper. Rinse thoroughly. Apply a further 5ml and continue washing for 2 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a clean towel.

Antiseptic handwash on the ward: 

Wet hands and forearms. Apply 5ml and wash for 1 minute. Rinse thoroughly and dry.

Patient whole body wash before surgery: 

On the day before surgery, apply 25ml and wash from the face downwards, paying attention to the nose, armpits, umbilicus, groin, and perineum. Rinse. Repeat with a further 25ml, including the hair.

General body cleansing: 

Hibiwash can be used daily as a body wash following the directions in the patient information leaflet. It should not be used in patients with a known chlorhexidine allergy, in deep or extensive wounds, or in body cavities. Avoid contact with eyes and ears — rinse immediately if contact occurs.
