Chlor-Clean Tablets

Chlor-Clean tablets are effervescent chlorine-releasing disinfectant tablets containing NaDCC (sodium dichloroisocyanurate) combined with a detergent. Dissolving one tablet in one litre of water produces a solution with 1,000 ppm available chlorine, to combine cleaning and disinfection of surfaces in a single step.

The solution is tested to a wide range of European standards, including BS EN 1276, BS EN 13727, BS EN 14476, BS EN 13624, BS EN 13704, BS EN 17126, BS EN 13697, BS EN 14348 and BS EN 16615, covering bacteria, viruses, fungi, mycobacteria and spores including Clostridium difficile. Contact time is 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the pathogen and concentration used.

Chlor-Clean tablets are used for terminal cleans, outbreak cleans and isolation cleans in healthcare settings, as well as routine disinfection of near-patient surfaces and equipment such as bed frames, mattresses, bedside tables and commodes.

As with other chlorine-releasing tablets, cold water is generally recommended for dissolving the tablet, since warm water can increase the release of chlorine gas. Solutions are typically made up fresh, and not stored for extended periods, in line with general guidance for chlorine-based disinfectants.
