A pocket-sized visualisation tool with ultrasound technology, GE Healthcare’s Vscan can help redefine the physical exam. Vscan gives you an easy look inside your patients – immediately and non-invasively – right during the exam. You get more clues on the spot.

Small and lightweight, Vscan slips easily into your lab coat pocket. So it’s always with you.  Its ample battery capacity provides over one hour of scanning on a single charge – plenty of power for a full day’s worth of patient exams. 

Held in one hand, Vscan features an intuitive user interface that’s easily controlled with just your thumb. Two standard imaging modes - black and white for anatomy and colour-coded blood flow - are enhanced by a wide variety of convenient applications.

Abdominal aorta evaluation: enables detection or follow-up on risk factors associated with abdominal aorta aneurysms.

Gall bladder visualization: visualisation of the gall bladder to evaluate the presence of gall stones.

Kidney imaging: visual inspection of the kidney to help identify the presence of extra fluid.

Liver imaging: visual inspection of liver size as an adjunct to the physical exam’s palpation and percussion.

Foetal position: help detect the fetal heartbeat, assess bleeding in pregnancy, and determine the baby’s position during prenatal examinations in the latter part of pregnancy and before delivery.

Cardiac imaging: assess left ventricular cardiac function to tell  if a patient is at risk for heart failure, and rapidly evaluate cardiac murmurs to assess valve thickening and blood flow leakage.

The Vscan device is designed to be used as an adjunct to a physical examination and as such is licensed for use in the Chest, Abdominal and Pelvic cavities. The system has 3 built in application specific programs: Cardiac, Abdominal and Obstetric.
 
Please note that the system is not intended to replace a normal ultrasound examination.

The Vscan is supplied with an on-line training and applications tool.  There are a number of suitable courses available specifically aimed at GP's to ensure that the Vscan is used correctly.
